I see an advantage for the vendor too, because if you get through the steep learning curve you would probably stick with the product if you are going to create professional content. (No usage for commercial production allowed) Anyways until then all the features are free. So getting started with it is easy, but you will close to never reach that limit with your non commercial usage. I agree that the tool must be developed and comes with a price tag. They used to make money with the hardware earlier. I am a programmer and a techy, just don't have much experience with video editing. I was using Hit Film Express and it was OK, but it was trying to be a browser too, and now it's not free anymore. I abhor and loathe nags and popups, so now I'm wondering if this is the wrong software for me. The learning curve seems pretty steep, and I just wanna eventually make goofy YouTube videos. Davinci Resolve requires $300 and your soul, Oh look, there's a random tool!, Davinci Resolve has expired! Give us all the monies! These are 1st party, Davinci Resolve popups. I've got like 10 minutes into today's session, and the popups are ANNOYING and demand $300. I'm just screwing around learning how to edit videos, so I have not installed a tool or anything. Yet today I'm randomly being nagged with updates, told that something expired, and am getting some kind of popup about an unknown tool. I've used Davinci Resolve 2-3 times now, and it was my understanding it was free.
